The seminar also addresses the theoretical transformations of Arabic linguistics from its foundational periods to the present.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main Themes<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Sibawayh and the Foundations of Language Philosophy<\/strong>: Sibawayh\u2019s <em>Kitab al-Kitab<\/em> is analyzed as a comprehensive linguistic study encompassing grammar (<em>nahw<\/em>), morphology (<em>sarf<\/em>), semantics, and phonetics.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Connections Between Language Philosophy and Islamic Sciences<\/strong>: Theoretical relationships between grammar (<em>nahw<\/em>) and theology (<em>kalam<\/em>), as well as ties to logic and epistemology, are explored.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Tension Between Empirical and Transcendental Thought<\/strong>: Arabic linguistics is assessed through the tension between empirical (observational) knowledge and transcendental (intellectual inference), with the roles of <em>sama\u2018<\/em> (aural transmission) and <em>qiyas<\/em> (analogical reasoning) discussed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kamal al-Din Ibn al-Anbari and Systematic Linguistics<\/strong>: Ibn al-Anbari\u2019s works, such as <em>Luma al-Adillah<\/em> and <em>al-I\u2018rab fi Jadal al-I\u2018rab<\/em>, are examined to demonstrate how methodological frameworks for linguistics were systematized.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mathematical and Geometric Modeling in Language Theories<\/strong>: The seminar delves into the mathematical and geometric dimensions of language theories, particularly focusing on <em>taqalib<\/em> (anagram systems), and their use as a resistance mechanism against rational logic.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Conclusion<\/strong>:<br \/>\nSoner G\u00fcnd\u00fcz\u00f6z\u2019s seminar provides a multidimensional perspective on the theoretical foundations of Arabic linguistics and its contributions to Islamic thought.
