Kitap \u00fczerinden s\u00fcrd\u00fcr\u00fclen tart\u0131\u015fmada, \u201ckuvve\u201d (potentia) ve \u201cfiil\u201d (actus) ayr\u0131m\u0131 yeniden ele al\u0131n\u0131r. Aristoteles&#8217;e g\u00f6re ere\u011fi kendi i\u00e7inde ta\u015f\u0131yan fiiller ger\u00e7ek anlamda \u201cfiil\u201ddir. Zay\u0131flama, iyile\u015fme gibi s\u00fcre\u00e7ler ere\u011fe y\u00f6neliktir ama ere\u011fi i\u00e7kin k\u0131lmaz; buna kar\u015f\u0131n d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnme ve g\u00f6rme gibi ps\u00fcheye (ruha) ait eylemler hem ger\u00e7ekle\u015fir hem ger\u00e7ekle\u015fmi\u015ftir denebilecek fiillerdir. Bu t\u00fcr fiillerde \u00f6znenin kendi varl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirmesi s\u00f6z konusudur.
