This encounter triggered confusion and deviation from the simple religiosity of early Islam, introducing new sciences, social hierarchies, and sources of authority.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>The Defensive Role of Emerging Sciences and Sects<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Disciplines such as Hadith, Fiqh, and Kalam evolved to defend Islam in this new context. Each played a protective role: Hadith scholars preserved the texts, jurists protected legal integrity, and theologians defended doctrinal belief.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>The Ascetic Reaction and the Birth of Sufism<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In response to the growing worldliness\u2014wealth, prestige, and scholarly complexity\u2014a strong ascetic movement emerged. At this stage, the emphasis shifted from poverty to generosity, from ignorance to knowledge, and from social withdrawal to constructive engagement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This session interprets Sufism as a reactive movement born from the crisis of Islamic identity in a changing cultural environment.
