Konev\u00ee\u2019s cosmology, centered on the metaphor of the \u201cBreath of the All-Merciful,\u201d is compared with that of Ibn \u02bfArab\u012b.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main Themes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Being, Ontological Degrees, and Divine Names<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>According to Konev\u00ee, the degrees of being are manifestations of the Divine Names. Each level of existence corresponds to a name and represents a domain of knowledge and divine action. To direct oneself toward something is, for Konev\u00ee, to pray and to seek knowledge (ma\u02bfrifa) of it. The most effective prayer occurs at the level of one\u2019s inner aptitude (istid\u0101d).<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>The Breath of the All-Merciful and Manifestation of Beings<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Konev\u00ee holds that all beings appear through the Breath of the All-Merciful (nafas al-Ra\u1e25m\u0101n\u012b). This breath spreads across beings and makes them manifest. The metaphor of divine speech is used to explain how this breath unfolds through levels of reality, each serving as a point of articulation (ma\u1e25raj).<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>Hadith Interpretation: Symbolic vs. Ontological Tension<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Sufi interpretation of the hadith \u201cI sense the Breath of the All-Merciful coming from Yemen\u201d is evaluated critically. Demirli argues that such interpretations often detach hadith from their historical context, leading to unbounded symbolic meanings. While this expands the semantic scope, it also creates methodological challenges.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>Sufism and Its Tension with Religious Sciences<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Post-Junayd Sufism, while seeking legitimacy as a religious discipline, struggled to maintain coherent relations with the Qur\u2019an and hadith. The rise of authoritative Sufi figures overshadowed the texts, producing a rij\u0101l-centered interpretive model that distanced itself from traditional textual boundaries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This seminar reestablishes the metaphysical link between prayer, being, and knowledge in Konev\u00ee\u2019s thought, highlighting the central role of the Divine Name al-Ra\u1e25m\u0101n. At the same time, it exposes the methodological tension between expansive Sufi interpretation and the constraints of traditional Islamic sciences.
