The heart, guided by piety (<em>taqw\u0101<\/em>) and self-awareness (<em>mur\u0101qaba<\/em>), can grasp moral truths\u2014as long as such insights do not contradict the outward principles of the shar\u012b\u02bfa.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong> The Role and Limits of Reason<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Reason and rational argumentation are valuable, but the intellect is limited. If it operates without the refinement and guidance of the heart, it can mislead. For al-Mu\u1e25\u0101sib\u012b, reason must be balanced by spiritual vigilance and inner sincerity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong> Struggling Against the Self (Nafs) and Ethical Purification<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Spiritual discipline involves continuous struggle against one\u2019s lower desires. Even the pursuit of lawful income must be free of selfish motives and impure methods. This inner battle is central to Sufi practice and moral development.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong> Avoiding the Doubtful and Narrowing the Scope of the Lawful<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Al-Mu\u1e25\u0101sib\u012b encourages avoiding anything doubtful as a mark of true piety. One should even restrict what is technically lawful to stay on spiritually safe ground. This reflects the principle: \u201cAvoid what is doubtful to protect what is certain.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong> Spiritual Integrity in Worship and Livelihood<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Acts of worship and worldly endeavors\u2014such as trade\u2014must align with spiritual intention and mindfulness. Worship without inner focus or income earned with ego-driven motives lacks spiritual merit.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In this third lecture, al-Mu\u1e25\u0101sib\u012b\u2019s moral framework\u2014shaped around knowledge, intention, and piety\u2014is explored in depth.
