This knowledge is a form of witnessing (<em>shuh\u016bd<\/em>), not mere conceptual understanding.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong> The Heart and Its Qualities in the Spiritual Journey<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">The heart is central to spiritual progress, but not all hearts are fit for gnosis. It must be purified, humble, and detached from worldly attachments. Junayd likens the heart to a mirror: the cleaner it is, the clearer it reflects divine truth.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong> Carrying Divine Knowledge with Humility and Silence<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Those who possess <em>ma<\/em><em>\u02bfrifa<\/em> do not flaunt it. Divine knowledge is a trust, and it must be carried with modesty, adab, and silence. Junayd emphasizes concealing spiritual knowledge as a means of preserving its sanctity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong> Renunciation (Zuhd) and Severing Ties to the World<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Love of the world is the greatest obstacle to divine knowledge. The heart must break free from worldly desires to turn fully toward God. <em>Zuhd<\/em> is a foundational principle in Junayd\u2019s Sufi doctrine.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong> The Limits of Language and the Weight of Spiritual States<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mystical states cannot be adequately expressed in words.
