Junayd sees both as prerequisites for true gnosis (<em>ma<\/em><em>\u02bfrifa<\/em>).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong> Divine Testing as a Form of Spiritual Training<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Junayd teaches that God tests His servants not to punish them but to elevate and refine them. Trials and afflictions serve as a divine pedagogy, drawing the Sufi closer to God.
