It seeks to strengthen the student\u2019s understanding of Platonic cosmology and the ancient metaphysical distinction between being and becoming.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Main Themes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The Order of the Soul and Universal Harmony<br \/>\n<\/strong>The soul operates correctly only when its internal ratios are balanced; once disturbed, both individual and cosmic disorder appears. Plato\u2019s view of the cosmos as a living, intelligent whole is grounded in the soul\u2019s harmonizing function.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The Role of Necessity in Becoming<br \/>\n<\/strong>In <em>Timaeus<\/em>, necessity is a resisting but unavoidable component of creation. The Demiurge does not destroy necessity but persuades it into order.
