K\u00fcr\u015fat Demirci bu derste, dinlerin yaln\u0131zca inan\u00e7 sistemleri de\u011fil, ayn\u0131 zamanda toplumsal yap\u0131lar\u0131 ve tarihsel d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015f\u00fcmleri anlamada \u00f6nemli birer k\u00fclt\u00fcrel olgu oldu\u011funu vurgular. Seminer boyunca, H\u0131ristiyanl\u0131k, \u0130slam, Yahudilik gibi b\u00fcy\u00fck dinlerin tarihsel yay\u0131l\u0131m\u0131, toplumsal etkile\u015fimleri ve d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015f\u00fcmleri \u00f6rnekler \u00fczerinden incelenmi\u015ftir.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ana Temalar<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Din ve Sosyoloji \u0130li\u015fkisi<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Demirci\u2019ye g\u00f6re dinler tarihi, sadece kutsal metinlerin ya da teolojik yap\u0131lar\u0131n analiziyle anla\u015f\u0131lamaz. Din, toplumun i\u00e7inde ya\u015fayan bir olgudur ve bu nedenle sosyolojinin verileriyle birlikte ele al\u0131nmal\u0131d\u0131r. Dinler tarihinin g\u00f6revi, inan\u00e7 sistemlerini toplumsal ba\u011flamlar\u0131nda yorumlamakt\u0131r. Demirci, Roma \u0130mparatorlu\u011fu\u2019nda ba\u015flayan bu dinin k\u0131sa s\u00fcrede farkl\u0131 mezheplere b\u00f6l\u00fcnd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn\u00fc anlat\u0131r: Katoliklik, Ortodoksluk ve Protestanl\u0131k.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Katoliklik, Roma merkezli evrensel bir otorite anlay\u0131\u015f\u0131 ta\u015f\u0131r.<\/li>\n<li>Ortodoksluk, yerel kilise gelene\u011fini ve ruhani liderli\u011fin kolektifli\u011fini savunur.<\/li>\n<li>Protestanl\u0131k ise bireysel vicdan ve do\u011frudan Tanr\u0131\u2019ya y\u00f6neli\u015f fikrini \u00f6n plana \u00e7\u0131kar\u0131r.<br \/>\nBu ayr\u0131mlar\u0131n yaln\u0131zca teolojik de\u011fil, ayn\u0131 zamanda sosyolojik ve politik nedenleri vard\u0131r.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> Protestan Ahlak\u0131 ve Kapitalizmin Do\u011fu\u015fu<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Demirci, Max Weber\u2019in \u201cProtestan Ahlak\u0131 ve Kapitalizmin Ruhu\u201d adl\u0131 eserine at\u0131fta bulunarak, dini inan\u00e7lar\u0131n ekonomik zihniyet \u00fczerindeki etkisini a\u00e7\u0131klar. Weber\u2019e g\u00f6re Protestanl\u0131k, \u00f6zellikle Kalvinist \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma disiplini ve d\u00fcnyevi ba\u015far\u0131y\u0131 ahlaki bir g\u00f6rev olarak g\u00f6rmesiyle kapitalizmin do\u011fu\u015funa katk\u0131da bulunmu\u015ftur. Dindarl\u0131k, bu d\u00f6nemde <strong>\u00e7al\u0131\u015fma, d\u00fczen ve \u00fcretkenlik<\/strong> kavramlar\u0131yla birle\u015fmi\u015ftir.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong> Do\u011fu Hristiyanl\u0131\u011f\u0131 ve S\u00fcryanilik<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Seminerde H\u0131ristiyanl\u0131\u011f\u0131n do\u011fu d\u00fcnyas\u0131ndaki bi\u00e7imleri de ele al\u0131n\u0131r. S\u00fcryani gelene\u011fi, Aramice dilini korumu\u015f, mistik bir teoloji geli\u015ftirmi\u015ftir. Ermenilikte din, sadece inan\u00e7 de\u011fil, ayn\u0131 zamanda kolektif haf\u0131za ve varolu\u015fun temelidir. Demirci\u2019ye g\u00f6re Ermenilik \u00f6rne\u011fi, dinin etnik kimlik in\u015fas\u0131nda ne kadar g\u00fc\u00e7l\u00fc bir rol oynayabilece\u011fini g\u00f6sterir.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong> \u0130slam D\u00fcnyas\u0131nda Sosyal D\u00f6n\u00fc\u015f\u00fcmler<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u0130slam tarihinde de benzer bir toplumsal \u00e7e\u015fitlilik g\u00f6zlemlenir. Arap yar\u0131madas\u0131nda ba\u015flayan \u0130slam, farkl\u0131 k\u00fclt\u00fcrlerle kar\u015f\u0131la\u015ft\u0131k\u00e7a d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015f\u00fcme u\u011fram\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Mezheplerin do\u011fu\u015fu, yaln\u0131zca teolojik farkl\u0131l\u0131klar\u0131n de\u011fil, ayn\u0131 zamanda siyasal ve k\u00fclt\u00fcrel \u015fartlar\u0131n \u00fcr\u00fcn\u00fcd\u00fcr. Tasavvufun y\u00fckseli\u015fi, insan\u0131n i\u00e7 d\u00fcnyas\u0131na y\u00f6nelme ihtiyac\u0131n\u0131n ifadesi olarak g\u00f6r\u00fcl\u00fcr.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li><strong> Tasavvuf, Kadercilik ve E\u015fitlik<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Demirci, tasavvufun \u0130slam d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncesinde \u201ce\u015fitlik\u00e7i\u201d bir y\u00f6n bar\u0131nd\u0131rd\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 s\u00f6yler. Her insan, Tanr\u0131 kar\u015f\u0131s\u0131nda e\u015fittir; \u00f6nemli olan kalbin temizli\u011fi ve niyettir. Ancak tarihsel s\u00fcre\u00e7te bu d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnce yerini zamanla kaderci bir anlay\u0131\u015fa b\u0131rakm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Bu de\u011fi\u015fim, toplumlar\u0131n tarihsel ko\u015fullar\u0131yla yak\u0131ndan ili\u015fkilidir.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li><strong> Dinlerin Evrenselli\u011fi ve K\u00fclt\u00fcrel Farkl\u0131l\u0131klar<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Demirci\u2019ye g\u00f6re dinler, her ne kadar evrensel hakikat iddias\u0131 ta\u015f\u0131salar da, her toplumda k\u00fclt\u00fcrel formlar arac\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131yla ya\u015fan\u0131r. K\u00fcr\u015fat Demirci emphasizes that religions are not merely belief systems but also reflections of social and historical transformation. The seminar explores the evolution of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism as examples of how faith interacts with society and history.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main Themes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> The Relationship Between Religion and Sociology<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Religion must be understood within its social context. It is shaped by the economic, political, and cultural structures in which it exists. The task of the history of religions is not only to describe belief systems but also to explain how they function within societies.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> The Expansion and Diversification of Christianity<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Christianity spread rapidly across the Roman Empire and divided into Catholicism, Orthodoxy, and Protestantism.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Catholicism emphasizes a universal ecclesiastical authority.<\/li>\n<li>Orthodoxy values local tradition and collective leadership.<\/li>\n<li>Protestantism centers on individual conscience and direct relation to God.<br \/>\nThese divisions arose from both theological and sociopolitical causes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> Protestant Ethics and the Spirit of Capitalism<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Following Max Weber\u2019s thesis, Demirci argues that Protestant ethics contributed to the rise of capitalism by associating work, discipline, and productivity with moral virtue. Success in worldly affairs became a sign of divine grace, blending spirituality with economic rationality.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong> Eastern Christianity and Syriac Tradition<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Syriac Church preserved ancient Aramaic language and mystical theology. Unlike the institutionalized Western Church, it viewed worship as a divine experience rather than mere ritual observance.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong> Armenian Christianity and National Identity<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In the Armenian Apostolic Church, religion functions as a core of national identity. Faith preserves history and collective memory, showing how religion can be both spiritual and political.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong> Social Transformations in the Islamic World<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Islamic civilization evolved as it encountered diverse cultures. The rise of theological schools and Sufism reflected the tension between law, mysticism, and social context.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li><strong> Sufism, Fatalism, and Equality<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Sufism originally emphasized spiritual equality\u2014all humans are equal before God. Over time, however, social and political conditions transformed this ideal into a form of fatalism.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li><strong> Universality and Cultural Diversity of Religions<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Although religions claim universality, they always manifest through local cultural forms. Understanding religion, therefore, means understanding the cultural evolution of humanity itself.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Demirci concludes that religion must be studied as a living, dynamic force that shapes societies. Beliefs evolve not only through divine revelation but also through historical and cultural transformation.
