Since Persian and Turkish differ in word order, translation requires rearranging the possessive elements according to Turkish syntax.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> Translating Possessive Constructions<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Persian possessive constructions differ from Turkish, especially in extended forms. Although <em>est<\/em> and <em>bud<\/em> appear attached to the phrase in Persian, they operate as sentence-final predicates in Turkish.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong> Word Formation and Adjective Derivation<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The origins of words such as <em>mehraban<\/em> and <em>derban<\/em> are explained. <em>Handan<\/em> is shown to derive from the verb <em>hand<\/em> with the suffix <em>-an<\/em>, meaning \u201claughing \/ cheerful.\u201d<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong> Time Chart and the State\u2013Verb Connection<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Past, present and future time concepts in Persian are presented through a time chart.
