Soru hem akademik hem ahlaki hem de psikolojik bir meseledir. Renan\u2019\u0131n yaz\u0131s\u0131 da bu sorunun bir par\u00e7as\u0131d\u0131r.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li><strong> Ge\u00e7mi\u015f Ba\u015far\u0131lar\u0131n Etkisi ve Yanl\u0131\u015f Beklenti<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>M\u00fcsl\u00fcmanlar ge\u00e7mi\u015fte ya\u015fanan b\u00fcy\u00fck ba\u015far\u0131lar\u0131 (bilim, siyaset, k\u00fclt\u00fcr, sanat) referans alarak gelecekte bunun tekrar m\u00fcmk\u00fcn oldu\u011funu d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnmektedir. Ancak hoca, bu ba\u015far\u0131lar\u0131n dinle birebir ili\u015fkisini abartan yakla\u015f\u0131mlar\u0131n ger\u00e7ekli\u011fi \u00e7arp\u0131tt\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 s\u00f6yler.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li><strong> \u0130slam\u2019\u0131n Ba\u015far\u0131 ve Ba\u015far\u0131s\u0131zl\u0131ktaki Rol\u00fcn\u00fcn Abart\u0131lmas\u0131<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Burada en kritik nokta olarak hoca \u015funu vurgular: \u0130slam\u2019\u0131n ba\u015far\u0131 d\u00f6nemlerindeki etkisi de, ba\u015far\u0131s\u0131zl\u0131k d\u00f6nemlerindeki etkisi de abart\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Din ne ba\u015far\u0131n\u0131n tek sebebidir ne de \u00e7\u00f6k\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn nedeni olarak tek ba\u015f\u0131na a\u00e7\u0131klanabilir. Bu konuda ciddi bilimsel \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma eksikli\u011fi vard\u0131r.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li><strong> Ge\u00e7mi\u015fin Bilinmemesi ve Bilimsel Ara\u015ft\u0131rma Eksikli\u011fi<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>M\u00fcsl\u00fcmanlar\u0131n ge\u00e7mi\u015f bilimsel faaliyetleri, d\u00fcnya ile ili\u015fkileri, \u00fcrettikleri fikirler ve katk\u0131lar yeterince incelenmemi\u015ftir. Bu geli\u015fmeler ancak daha ge\u00e7 d\u00f6nemlerde ortaya \u00e7\u0131km\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Din ilimleri i\u00e7inde bile hadis\u2013rey kavgas\u0131 gibi ciddi gerilimler ya\u015fanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"11\">\n<li><strong> Hadis\u2013Rey Tart\u0131\u015fmas\u0131 ve Nazar\/Ak\u0131l Ele\u015ftirisi<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u0130lk iki as\u0131rda kelam\u00ee ak\u0131l bile hen\u00fcz olu\u015fmam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Hadis ekol\u00fc rey ekol\u00fcn\u00fc bidat\u00e7ilikle su\u00e7lam\u0131\u015f, rey ekol\u00fc ise hadis\u00e7ileri anlamamakla itham etmi\u015ftir. Bu d\u00f6nem bile M\u00fcsl\u00fcmanlar aras\u0131nda fikir \u00e7e\u015fitlili\u011finin hen\u00fcz olu\u015fmad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 ve bilginin \u00e7ok s\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131 oldu\u011funu g\u00f6sterir.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sonu\u00e7<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bu ders, \u0130slam toplumlar\u0131n\u0131n modern d\u00f6nemdeki ba\u015far\u0131s\u0131zl\u0131klar\u0131n\u0131 salt dine ba\u011flaman\u0131n hatal\u0131 oldu\u011funu, ayn\u0131 \u015fekilde ge\u00e7mi\u015f ba\u015far\u0131lar\u0131 tamamen dine mal etmenin de sa\u011fl\u0131kl\u0131 olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 vurgular. Tarihsel s\u00fcre\u00e7 iyi bilinmedi\u011fi i\u00e7in ne ba\u015far\u0131 do\u011fru anla\u015f\u0131labilmekte ne gerileme do\u011fru analiz edilebilmektedir. Hoca, Renan\u2019\u0131n iddialar\u0131n\u0131n abart\u0131l\u0131 olsa da tart\u0131\u015f\u0131lmaya de\u011fer oldu\u011funu ve M\u00fcsl\u00fcman d\u00fcnyan\u0131n kendisini anlamak i\u00e7in kapsaml\u0131 bilimsel ara\u015ft\u0131rmalara ihtiyac\u0131 bulundu\u011funu belirtir.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose of the Seminar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this session is to examine Renan\u2019s criticisms of Islam and Muslim societies, diagnose the historical and intellectual weaknesses that shaped the modern Muslim world, and question the widely repeated assumption that Islam was the primary cause of past success or present decline. The lecture emphasizes the need for scientific historical research and warns against simplistic explanations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main Themes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> The Ongoing Relevance of Renan\u2019s Central Claim<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Renan\u2019s question\u2014\u201cWhy are Muslim societies in this condition?\u201d\u2014remains relevant because the historical and intellectual data required to refute it fully are lacking. Muslims cannot entirely dismiss the argument without developing strong scientific analysis.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> The Problem of Historical Knowledge in the Muslim World<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Muslim societies lack a comprehensive scientific historiography. Political successes are known, but intellectual, scientific, cultural, and regional histories remain largely unexplored, leading to a fragmented understanding.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> The Overshadowing Effect of the Ottoman Empire<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Ottoman focus erased the histories of India, Africa, Iran, Central Asia, and the Balkans. This produced a distorted view of the Muslim world\u2019s diversity and development.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong> The Beginning of the Centuries of Defeat<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>According to the lecturer, the \u201ccenturies of defeat\u201d began around 1710. Despite recognizing decline, Muslim societies failed to produce structural reforms comparable to Europe\u2019s transformation.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong> Collapse of Intelligentsia and Psychological Breakdown<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>While Europe had many powerful states, the Muslim world was represented almost solely by the Ottomans. This contributed to a severe psychological collapse among Muslim intellectuals.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong> The Central Modern Question: Why Are Muslims in This Condition?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This question dominates modern Muslim intellectual life.
