Tasdik ise \u201cni\u00e7in?\u201d sorusuna verilen cevapt\u0131r; bir \u00f6nermenin ger\u00e7ekli\u011fe uygun oldu\u011funa inanma eylemidir. Tan\u0131mlar tasavvura; k\u0131yas tasdike aittir. Burhan\u0131n felsef\u00ee bilgi i\u00e7in neden zorunlu kabul edildi\u011fi g\u00f6sterilmi\u015f ve Kit\u00e2bu\u2019l-Burh\u00e2n\u2019\u0131n d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnce sistemi i\u00e7indeki yeri temellendirilmi\u015ftir.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose of the Lesson<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this lesson is to explain the structure of al-F\u0101r\u0101b\u012b\u2019s <em>Kit\u0101b al-Burh\u0101n<\/em>, the role of demonstration in philosophical knowledge, the distinction between conception and assent, the conditions of certainty, and the relation between proposition and truth, thereby showing the foundations of F\u0101r\u0101b\u012b\u2019s demonstrative method.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main Themes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Structure and Aim of Kit\u0101b al-Burh\u0101n<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Burh\u0101n<\/em> consists of five parts and corresponds to Aristotle\u2019s <em>Posterior Analytics<\/em>. F\u0101r\u0101b\u012b presents demonstration as the highest form of knowledge, superior to dialectic, rhetoric, poetry and sophistry. Demonstration is the central tool for understanding existence and attaining truth.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> The Necessary Structure of the Syllogism<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A syllogism has two premises and a conclusion. When the premises are granted, the conclusion necessarily follows; this necessity comes from form, not content. Therefore, a syllogism may be materially false but formally valid. Human thinking, according to F\u0101r\u0101b\u012b, is essentially demonstrative.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> The Distinction Between Conception and Assent<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Conception answers the question \u201cwhat is it?\u201d and refers to forming a correct notion. Assent answers \u201cwhy?\u201d and is believing that a proposition corresponds to reality. Definitions belong to conception; syllogism belongs to assent. This distinction is foundational for F\u0101r\u0101b\u012b\u2019s epistemology.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong> Proposition and Truth<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A proposition is not the uttered sound but the meaning it conveys. Truth is the conformity of assent with external reality. The proposition is a mental act; truth is an objective property of the proposition.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong> Conditions of Certainty<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Certainty requires two components: believing a proposition to be true and believing the impossibility of its contradictory. Without rejecting the contradictory, certainty does not arise.
