the Old Turkic numeral system, verb structures, war terminology, military items such as armor and cloak, kinship terms, directional and place names, Chinese and Sogdian influences, horse coat terms, names of spears and weapons, attack verbs, the historical development of morphological suffixes, and ethnic names of Turkic tribes are evaluated comprehensively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main Themes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> The Verb An\u00e7olamak and the Debate on Its Origin<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The verb <em>an\u00e7olamak<\/em> is explained as having its origin in Tang-period Chinese, with its forms in Uygur texts and the point that it should not be confused with <em>an\u00e7olayu<\/em>; its meaning \u201cto present, to offer\u201d is evaluated in detail as a Chinese loan that has been formed with Turkish suffixes.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> The Sentence \u201cWe Destroyed That Army There\u201d and the K\u0131\u015fmak\/K\u0131smak Debate<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The battle-scene verb <em>yok k\u0131\u015fmak<\/em> is interpreted within the framework of some researchers reading it as <em>k\u0131smak<\/em> and the discussion on the \u015e\u2013S distinction in Old Turkic; the sentence <em>Olsuk anta yok k\u0131\u015ft\u0131m\u0131z<\/em> is analyzed linguistically.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> The Old Turkic Numeral System and the Reading 1.30 \u2192 Age 21<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The way composite numerals like 1.30 come to mean 21, the way the subtractive decimal system is used when the word <em>artuk<\/em> does not appear, the variability in different inscriptions, and K\u00fcl Tegin\u2019s campaign at age 21 are explained within this numeral system.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong> The War Against \u00c7a\u00e7asan and the Structure of the Verbs<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Through the verb <em>s\u00fcm\u00fc\u015fmek<\/em> in the sentence <em>\u00c7a\u00e7asa&#8217;n\u0131nke s\u00fcm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcm\u00fcz<\/em>, war terminology, the appearance of dative-locative suffixes, and young K\u00fcl Tegin\u2019s first campaign experience are examined with philological examples.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong> First, Second, Third: The Historical Structure of Ordinal Numbers<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The origins of ordinal numbers such as <em>en ilki<\/em>, <em>ekinti<\/em>, <em>\u00fc\u00e7\u00fcn\u00e7<\/em> are discussed; the historical transformation of the <em>il\u2013ki<\/em> structure and the fact that today\u2019s <em>-inci<\/em> suffix belongs to a different period as a renewed form are addressed.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong> Tad\u0131k\u0131n \u00c7or\u2019s Dappled Horse and Color Terms<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The historical use of the coat <em>boz<\/em>, its relation to Mongolian <em>boro<\/em>, and the cultural importance of horse color among the Turks are explained; the preservation of equestrian knowledge among Kazakh, Kyrgyz, and Tuva peoples is emphasized.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li><strong> \u0130\u015fvara Yamtar and Foreign-Origin Names<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Sanskrit origin of the name <em>\u0130\u015fvara<\/em>, the prevalence of foreign names in the old Turkic ruling class, the discussion on the origins of names like Bumin and \u0130stemi Ka\u011fan, and views of Japanese and Western researchers on the A\u0161ina family are presented.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li><strong> Yiyen Silig Bey and the Kedimlik Toruk Horse<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The word <em>sil(ig)<\/em> meaning \u201cclean,\u201d its connection with <em>sulug<\/em> forms in contemporary Kipchak languages, <em>kedim<\/em> meaning \u201carmor\u201d and its relation to Mongolian <em>kecim<\/em>; and the historical sound changes in <em>toruk\/doruk<\/em> forms for the bay\/dun horse are explained.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li><strong> K\u00fcl Tegin Fighting by Changing Three Horses<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The fact that three horses died in succession in battle, K\u00fcl Tegin\u2019s power of assault, the symbolic meaning of his military achievement at age 21, and the dramatic narration of the lines are evaluated.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"10\">\n<li><strong> Yar\u0131k and Yalma: Terminology of Armor and Cloak<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The historical and archaeological context of <em>yar\u0131k<\/em> as armor and <em>yalma<\/em> as cloak is explained;
