Sat\u0131rlar ilerledik\u00e7e hem Eski T\u00fcrk\u00e7enin yap\u0131sal zenginli\u011fi hem de d\u00f6nemin siyasi\u2013asker\u00ee ger\u00e7ekli\u011fi daha net bir \u015fekilde g\u00f6r\u00fcn\u00fcr h\u00e2le gelir.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose of the Seminar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In this seminar, the section of the K\u00fcl Tegin inscription beginning at line 36 is analyzed in detail from philological, historical, and linguistic perspectives. The meaning of <em>oplay\u0131 tegmek<\/em>, the historical development of simile suffixes, attack verbs, the instrumental suffix, the debate on <em>Udu\u015fmak<\/em>, the closed e\u2013i problem, <em>san\u00e7mak<\/em>, <em>s\u0131mak<\/em>, directional and locative suffixes, Old Turkic verb roots, the use of one-vowel verbs and nouns, the T\u00fcrge\u0161 campaigns, the origins of place names, military terminology, horse coat terms, color adjectives, the historical development of causative suffixes (t\u2013z), and the geographical background of the campaign route are examined comprehensively.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Oplay\u0131 Tegmek and Simile Suffixes<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The structure <em>oplay\u0131 tegmek<\/em> is evaluated beginning with Hamilton\u2019s explanation that it means \u201cto attack like a bull\u201d; the suffix <em>lay\u0131<\/em> is presented as a historical simile marker found in older texts such as <em>b\u00f6r\u00fc lay\u0131<\/em> and <em>arslan lay\u0131<\/em>, and its continuity into Anatolian Turkish is noted.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> Striking with an Arrow: the Instrumental Suffix and Urmak\/Vurmak<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In the sentence \u201cbir eri okun urtu,\u201d the element <em>-n<\/em> is explained as the instrumental suffix; the development of <em>urmak<\/em> into <em>vurmak<\/em> in Turkish, the B\u2013V shift, and the three families of accusative\/instrumental markers in Old Turkic are described.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> The Ud \u015euru Debate and the Issue of Udu\u015fmak<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The unique structure \u201cUd \u015euru,\u201d seen only in the inscriptions, is discussed; earlier readings such as <em>Ud A\u015furu<\/em> are rejected, and it is shown that <em>Udu\u015fmak<\/em> does not historically exist, while the correct interpretation relates to the verb <em>udmak<\/em> \u201cto follow, to track,\u201d requiring a solution specific to this inscription.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong> The Closed E\u2013\u0130 Issue and the Reading of \u201c\u0130ki\/Eki\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The word <em>iki\/eki<\/em> in the phrase \u201ciki erik u\u00e7urur\u201d raises the debate on the closed e; Marcel Erdal reads <em>iki<\/em>, whereas \u00d6lmez reads <em>eki<\/em> based on orthography, and the inconsistency of closed e across historical Turkic is explained.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong> The Verb San\u00e7mak and War Terminology<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The verb <em>san\u00e7mak<\/em>, meaning \u201cto pierce, to thrust a spear,\u201d and its possible connection to <em>san\u00e7ak<\/em> are explained; K\u00fcl Tegin\u2019s spearing of two soldiers is analyzed within the linguistic frame of battle narration.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong> The Verb S\u0131mak and the Word Uyluk (Udluk)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In the scene where K\u00fcl Tegin breaks the thigh of the Bay\u0131rku horse, the verb <em>s\u0131mak<\/em> (\u201cto break\u201d) is discussed; the development <em>udluk \u2192 uyluk<\/em> and the D\u2192Y shift are presented as regular Old Turkic sound changes.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li><strong> Directional Suffixes: Tapa, Toga, Ke\u00e7e<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Directional and action markers such as <em>tapa<\/em> (\u201ctowards\u201d), <em>toga<\/em> (\u201ccrossing over\u201d), and <em>ke\u00e7e<\/em> (\u201cpassing\u201d) are explained through the crossing of the Altay Mountains (<em>Altun Y\u0131\u015f<\/em>) and the Ertis River.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li><strong> Altun Y\u0131\u015f and Altay Geography<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The expression <em>Altun\/Alton Y\u0131\u015f<\/em> is shown to refer to the Altay Mountains;
